Wisdom teeth are those annoying molars found in the very back of your mouth, which may become impacted (fail to erupt) due to lack of room in the jaw or angle of entry. When a wisdom tooth is impacted, it can cause tenderness, swelling, gum disease, and may need to be removed.

To remove a wisdom tooth, your dentist first needs to numb the area around the tooth and a remove a portion of the covering bone. Once removed the healing time varies depending on the degree of difficulty related to the extraction.
